Frequently asked questions

What is BMR?

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body needs at complete rest to maintain basic functions like breathing and circulation.

What formula does this calculator use?

It uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, one of the most widely used and accurate formulas for estimating BMR based on weight, height, age, and sex.

How is BMR different from calorie needs (TDEE)?

BMR only covers resting energy needs. Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) adds calories burned through daily activity and exercise on top of BMR.
